Two reasons why some women get their faces waxed at salons

by Eduardo Mcdonalid

Whilst most women do not have the same amount of facial hair growth as men, plenty of women have quite a lot of 'peach fuzz', as well as sideburns and hair on their upper lips. Here are some reasons why some women like to have this facial hair waxed off at a salon.

It can improve the way their make-up looks

Lots of women who wear face make-up (like concealer, bronzer, foundation, blush, etc.) regularly visit salons to have waxing treatments to remove their facial hair, simply because it can make make-up application easier and improve the way the make-up sits on their skin.

For example, if a woman has thick peach fuzz, applying foundation over this hair can actually accentuate it, as the foundation simply sits on the individual hairs. This can make their skin look textured and slightly fluffy, which many women do not like. Removing this fluff with wax, which extracts both the shaft and the root can make the surface of the skin much smoother for several weeks which, in turn, can make any foundation placed upon this surface during this time look less textured.

Similarly, if a woman wears lipgloss and has hair on her upper lip, the presence of this shiny lip product on the outer edge of her upper lip will highlight the presence of this hair and make it look like she has a faint moustache. If women have this hair waxed off at a salon, it can enable them to use this cosmetic product without creating this unflattering look.

It can allow their skin to absorb their skincare products better

Many women also use salons' facial waxing services because it makes their skincare products perform better. This is because thick peach fuzz or sideburns function as a barrier between the dermis and any products that a person places on top of it.

Whilst this type of facial hair won't completely prevent the absorption of skincare products a woman uses on her face, it could greatly reduce the amount that ends up penetrating her skin, which will then reduce the benefits she experiences. This could not only affect the health of a woman's facial skin in the long run but may also result in much of her expensive skincare products going to waste.

Some women choose to deal with this issue by shaving their faces regularly; however, this is not always advisable, as a women's facial skin is generally thinner than a man's and is, therefore, more likely to get irritated and damaged by being shaved several times a week. Waxing the hair just once a month at a salon is a much better alternative, as it gives the skin plenty of time to recover in between the hair removal sessions and provides weeks of stubble-free facial skin that will readily absorb any nourishing skincare products that a woman applies to it.
